24 Jul My BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K came quickly

Cameras are one of those things the filmmakers are always looking to invest in. Even if you have a camera package that your regularly own and use, there is always something better, smaller, has more options or is just darn cool.

One of the tools that has made a huge splash in the camera world in the last two years is the BlackMagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.  It’s a compact camera that shoots a brilliantly cinematic image with 4K and high speed and raw options built right into its tiny body. Though this won’t be replacing my Red Dragon X or Scarlet-W, it will be an amazing travel camera to vlog with and a compact cinema camera to stick on my DJI Ronin S.  This will allow us to get some beautiful, Steadicam-style looks in a very compact set up.

I can’t wait until we have some time to get this little beast into production…  I was super eager to start playing with it and was really hoping to bring it on our shoot tomorrow, but because it requires really specialized media to get it performing at its optimal quality, I will need to wait until that arrives to get it into the workflow.  It’ll definitely come with us to Japan later in August though.
