China town weekend strolls and Dim Sum

Before I met Joanne, dim sum was one of those fun food excursions I would always get excited about.  I mean… what’s not to love?  There are endless amounts of steamed, fried, and delicious bite-sized dumplings of deliciousness just begging to be sampled.  I always tried to eat one new dish every time we dim summed.  However, growing up in Mililani, there were no dim sum restaurants near by, so would have to drive all the way to honolulu for some awesome dim sum.  When Joanne and I started dating, everything changed.  Having a Chinese speaker on your table means you get special treatment.  Wait staff is generally friendlier when you speak their language and we can order things that I would never think to ask for without Joanne.  I never would’ve known about sticky rice, soup dumplings, taro tapioca without Joanne and her family ordering them for the table.  Now that Joanne and I now live in walking distance of China Town, we have starting eating dim sum at least once every other month, but I am hopeful that will increase even more.

After dim sum today, we walked around China town for a little bit ducking in and out of different shops just to escape the heat and humidity. We walked almost all the way to Ala Moana Blvd to make sure we get our excercise for the day, then we headed back home to rest up for a long night.
