12 Jul Endings and new beginnings
Today was an important and exciting day for us. We cleared two things off our list.
1. We delivered the versions of all the Boson Social Media videos to Hawaiian Airlines. It was such a fun project for us to be a part of because we had the opportunity to travel to Boston, capture their inaugural launch and create fun experience videos of what to do around the city.
It is always a sigh of relief to finalize a project and know that our client is happy with the work we’ve provided and feel like we’ve helped to contribute something valuable to their marketing efforts.
2. We finally completed our pilot episode of the TV show we’ve been working on with Lacy Lyons called “Eo” with Rick Blangiardi president of Hawaii News Now.
The meeting with Rick couldn’t have gone any better. We were able to go around and share with him a little bit about what we do and why we were there. And once he felt the timing and relationship vibes were good, we presented the episode to him.
When Lacy introduced us to Rick, she mentioned that we had gone a different route than what she had initially presented because of the personnel shift. Rick commented that he was excited about that because he didn’t like the original teaser that was pitched for Eo.
After watching the first minute intro of our show, Rick blurted out: “this is already a thousand times better than what you had.” That was really comforting to hear right out of the gate. As we were two thirds through the first segment, Rick commented, “Really good sound Berad” and as the show finished up, Rick was very impressed not just with the quality of the production that we had done, but with the storytelling of the episode.
We (Mauna, Christy and I) had never worked on a TV show that we ideated before, so hearing from someone who lives and breathes TV and is the president of the largest station in our state: “This is really good television…” on multiple occasions throughout the remainder of our conversation was extremely validating. We make marketing and brand content for some premium brands around the state so I know that production quality isn’t our limitation, it’s the ability to tell 4 consecutive stories, that make up one cohesive episode that was the unfamiliarity for us.
Following up my 40th birthday with a day of final deliverables and the start to a brand new type of production experience was quite magical. And to top it off, Joanne took me out for a sushi dinner at Kona Kai Sushi to celebrate by birthday and enjoy some time together.
Today was a great day!
